Trees
The Tree Group seek to
appreciate the trees in Sevenoaks, a place which for many years was described
as a "Town in a Wood". It collects information on the remarkable
trees of Sevenoaks, their condition, history and their preservation and encourages
everyone to send in details of their favourites together with pictures and
comments which will be placed on the website. It is planning together with
the Walks Committee, a series of Tree Routes which will take
walkers to see some of the key trees in the area. Eventually it is hoped that
an illustrated guide to Sevenoaks and its trees will be produced.

• To inform citizens of currently valued trees of note (with TPOs)
• Give information regarding TPOs (perhaps via link to Sevenoaks Council site)
• To encourage awareness of variety of trees in the town and immediate surroundings
• To inform (perhaps through links to nature sites re: how to identify trees)
• To encourage sharing of knowledge through talks
• To enable citizens and visitors to enjoy our trees with suggested walks (Tree Routes!)
• To encourage greater awareness of the value of trees in the environment in local schools through project work etc
