History:
Dwellings in 1860, later shops no. 61 TSB Bank (see photograph D35), no. 63 Hairdresser 1910-1957 and Homeart – paint and wallpaper co. No. 61 subsequently Sweenies – hair and beauty for tots and teens.

Description:
Double fronted ‘Victorian/Edwardian’ villa style building on three floors under hipped slate roof with black half round gutter on white painted timber eaves. Ground floor central natural timber door to upper floors set back under half round fanlight and white painted brick surround under part of original deep fascia. Original moulded door heads apparent at each end above later fascias.
No. 61
Medium deep white painted fascia with green ‘Hospice in the Weald’ lettering with ‘Hospice’ logo to left over simple white painted timber framed shop front of large single display windows over green painted sub-cill panels on each side of single glazed green painted entrance door with medium deep fixed glazed fanlights to match over. Shop front on low stall riser set between grey marble end walls/pilaster returns to centre door.
No. 63
‘KallKwik’ modern pale grey metal shop front with central glass door with single pane display windows each side on low stall riser to suit road levels. Deep grey fascia with ‘KallKwik’ in blue and red lettering. Shallow wide fixed fanlights over blue painted sub-fascia. Glazed shop front returns on LHS to centre door. First and second floors plain buff stock brick with white painted timber sash windows, two per floor, per building set in shallow moulded white painted surrounds with plain white painted string courses at cill levels finished with mini plain brackets below each jamb. Sash windows six pane each, first floor rectangular, second floor square equivalent.
Comment:
Attractive upper floors typical of period but somewhat spoilt by less attractive modern shop fronts.
